Service Engineers Complete Week Long Training Program

As an effort to enhance the service capability of our service engineers, SDL Atlas sponsored comprehensive international service training at the SDL Atlas facility in Shenzhen, China. Thirty-six service engineers from eighteen countries attended the week long training event. In depth and hands on service training was provided on the Martindale, Autoburst, Hydrostatic Head Tester, Air Permeability Tester, Sweating Guarded Hot Plate, QuickWash, Gas Fume Chamber, and Universal Testing Machine.

SDL Atlas service engineers and product development engineers lead the groups through each of the products and allowed time for the participants to work on the instruments themselves. Many of the instruments have received recent upgrades designed to enhance testing functionality and the training event provided a valuable opportunity for the participants to learn more about these exciting new features.

"Our goal is to provide confidence in standard based testing through expertise and global partnering. Having well trained local service engineers builds on that great level of confidence our customers have. We are very pleased to host this training and have participation from the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Far East." said Chuck Lane, president of SDL Atlas.

During the training, the participating service engineers were also introduced to the newest SDL Atlas instrument, the Fabric Touch Tester (FTT), the first instrument commercially available to objectively measure fabric hand in just one easy step. The FTT utilizes state of the art sensors and load cells to evaluate fabric’s bending, compression, thickness, roughness, friction, and thermal properties to objectively measure the way a fabric feels.

The SDL Atlas Group of companies offers the largest range of textile testing equipment, supplies, consumables, and services available from a single source. With its own offices in the United States, Hong Kong and China, plus agents in over 100 countries, SDL Atlas is ready to support its customers anywhere in the world.
