Conference of Clothing Comfort Evaluation and Fabric Touch Comfort Testing

Clothing is one of the most intimate objects associated with our daily life. Because it interacts directly with our skin, comfort is a basic prerequisite when selecting clothing. However, comfort is difficult to explain qualitatively since it is a complex and interdependent combination of perceptions and can be highly subjective. In order to meet the comfort needs of consumers, objective measurement methods are needed for process control purposes. Meanwhile, the skin is extremely sensitive to the pressure and heat transfer due to millions of kinds of receptors all over the body. There is a need to characterize the tactile sensory properties of textile polymeric materials with simulation of the fabric-skin contact process during wear.

At the dawn of the 16th Shanghai International Textile machinery Fair (Shanghai Tex 2013), THE HONGKONG RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF TEXTILES AND APPAREL (HKRITA) and SDL Atlas will work hand in hand to sponsor the Conference of Clothing Comfort Evaluation and Fabric Touch Comfort Testing to be held at 14:00-16:30 on the afternoon of Jun 11th, 2013 in the meeting room W2-M9 of Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Dr. Hu Junyan, Senior Research Fellow of Textile and Garment Dept. of Hongkong Polytechnic University (ITC, The HKPolyU), will attend as the speaker & expect in-depth discussion and face to face exchange with the conference participants.

Seminar content includes technology innovations on how to evaluate the comfort and hand properties of textile materials focusing on the latest developments and innovations in testing methods, standards and instrumentation. How to make quick test and simple operation in quality control laboratories to know the human physiological response to various comfort related stimuli from clothing and the environment.

Welcome participants from textile colleges and representatives of garment enterprises to attend this conference. Seats are limited & will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
